Come along and participate in our Festival Peace Wall, an interactive exhibition of postcards exchanging messages of Peace.

The Peace Matters Project was launched during Essex Book Festival with children’s workshops in two Tendring schools – Two Village Church of England Primary School and Rolph Church of England Primary School – in collaboration with three primary schools in Tendring’s twin towns: Valance in France, Biberach in Germany and Świdnica in Poland.

The project, which marks the centenary of the end of WW1 and forms part of Essex Book Festival’s 2018 War and Peace strand of activity, has invited Yr 5/6 children to respond to the very simple question: What Does Peace Mean To You?

Samples of these postcards, including the translated replies, will be read out on 29th March by representative pupils from the two Tendring schools, and by pupils visiting from Swidnica in Poland.

The project is being run by Essex Book Festival and partners, Essex County Council, Polish Cultural Institute, Tendring Twinning Association, Jaywick Martello Tower, Essex Children’s University, and MA students from the University of Essex.
