ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gillian Darley is a writer and broadcaster. A widely published author on architecture and landscape, she has written biographies of Octavia Hill, John Evelyn and John Soane. Her first and perhaps best known title was Villages of Vision, a study of planned settlements and utopian communities.
