“We built walls. We built borders. Around our hearts. Around our minds.”

Homs, Syria – a desperate artist expresses her rage at the Assad regime by spraying the walls of her devastated city with subversive graffiti.

London, UK – an idealistic, young photographer gradually betrays all of his principals as he climbs the greasy pole of fame and celebrity.

Their paths are destined to cross from across the Mediterranean.

Told through two alternating monologues, BORDERS is an urgent, moving, and occasionally hilarious commentary on one of the great crises of our time.

Written by award-winning writer Henry Naylor, BORDERS was one of the biggest hits of the Edinburgh Festival 2017 selling out its entire run and accumulating an astonishing 19 five and four-star reviews. Naylor, who is perhaps best known as Lead Writer on ITV’s Headcases and Spitting Image, as well as BBC Radio 4’s Dead Ringers, has now been described as ‘one of our best new playwrights’ by The Times and the Evening Standard, and ‘one of the finest British writers on contemporary events’ in Theatre Extra.

BORDERS will be directed by Ryan McBryde, and will take place at The Old Library, Colchester (formerly Memoirs Restaurant).
