The Chelmsford Radio Drama Festival, supported by the Essex County Council Arts and Cultural Fund brings together our community in celebration of the broadcast heritage of our City. Championing audio drama, local connections and contributions.
The Community Showcase event in the City Centre will be an inspirational platform to see work from local writers and performers.
There are also limited spaces to take part in a Radio Drama Day for budding creatives to devise and record a radio drama from scratch.

A very special “live” listening session at Essex Record Office in their Spalding Room (Lecture Theatre). Join Impala – the Essex based team behind “Haunted” the Audio Drama for a one off live performance of a specially written piece which ties into their highly acclaimed podcast series. There will also be opportunity to hear some of the other locally produced Radio Drama work that has been going on over the festival period.

If you’ve ever fancied a go at writing drama for radio then this is for you.
Chelmsford Radio Drama Festival is delighted to welcome expert Robin Brooks to help support a session in which the participants will devise a plot and script for a short radio drama.
Learn more about the writing process, get some tips for your own pieces and work as a team to not only produce a new script but see it through to take part in a recorded performance in front of an audience.
The workshop takes place in a classroom at the Anglia Ruskin University Chelmsford Campus.
