Our Pop-Up Storytelling Armchair will be at High House Production Park, Purfleet-on-Thames on Saturday 11th June as part of our Criminally Good Day. A super comfy treat for book lovers young and old to enjoy their favourite stories out loud.

Storytellers will include…

Emily Kenny 

Emily Kenny is author of The Extraordinary Adventures of Alice Tonks. Like Alice, Emily Kenny is autistic and wanted to write her debut novel about an autistic child protagonist. Emily will also be running a children’s writing workshop, Heroes and Villains during our Criminally Good Day.

Sade Fadipe

Author and teacher Sade Fadipe will be sharing her book A Fun ABC. Through her books, Sade celebrates and introduces both African and non-African children to the music, food, culture and family bonds that Africans experience and emphasises the humanity that binds us. Sade will also be hosting a children’s workshop Fun Stories from Far Away during our Criminally Good Day.

Catherine Emmett

Catherine grew up in Newcastle and spent her childhood reading books and dreaming about having lots of animals.  But when she grew up, she moved to the Big Smoke and spent her time making boring spreadsheets instead. After advising a group of young girls to find a career that they loved and to follow their dreams, she decided to take her own advice! She packed up her husband and her three young boys, escaped to rural Essex where she started to write picture books and middle grade stories. She now spends her days surrounded by words, animals and her noisy young boys. Catherine will also be hosting a children’s writing workshop, Once Upon a Story… during our Criminally Good Day

Sam Scott

Sam will be reading from her book Sophie Spirit and the Batting Manor Mystery, a ghost story about a 12 year old deaf girl, who gets drawn into a devilish plot at her local manor house. This is the first in a trilogy of books featuring Sophie Spirit.
