We will discuss how, once these elements are firmly established, the writer can move on to enhancing tension and suspense through the story’s themes and settings – all of which are essential to the fundamentals of crime and thriller writing.
With additional advice on structure and point-of-view, Julie-Ann will provide the new writer with the tool kit to ensure a solid start to their emerging story.

Julie-Ann was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. She studied in London, completing a BA (Hons) Humanities degree, majoring in Modern History and English Literature. Travelling in Europe for several years, she taught in both Greece and Spain – countries and cultures she found fascinating. On return to the UK she gained a BSc (Physiotherapy), becoming a Chartered Physiotherapist.
She lives in Berkshire with her family.
The Nurse was published by Canelo in May 2021 to great acclaim and became a bestseller. The Bad Sister follows in April 2022. Julie-Ann’s first thriller, Falling Suns, was published by Headline Accent in 2016.
