Does the wisdom of ancient Rome clash with, or compliment, our modern day values?

Join Dr Jerry Toner, Fellow and Director of Studies in Classics, Cambridge University, who explores this question in his latest book, Release Your Inner Roman, which neatly fuses Roman social history and the self-help genre.

Writing as Marcus Sidonius Falx, Dr Toner reveals the secret of self-fulfilment, and how we can enhance the value of our lives, boost rewards and enrich life’s pleasures, by looking at the world (albeit 2000 years ago) through the eyes of a Roman nobleman.

Marcus Sidonius Falx is a Roman of noble birth. After serving with distinction in the legions, he retired to manage his substantial country estates. He now divides his time between his properties in Campania and the province of Africa and his luxury villa on the Esquiline hill overlooking Rome.

Release Your Inner Roman is the triumphant sequel to How to Manage your Slaves, published to critical and commercial acclaim in 2014.
